PhD students and employees of the INCT organize show at the Department of Chemistry (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań)

To celebrate the hundredth anniversary of awarding the Nobel Prize to Maria Skłodowska-Curie (MSC-100), the Department of Chemistry of the Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) organized a series of lectures, experiments and exhibitions under the common title: THE LIFE AND WORK OF MARIA SKŁODOWSKA - CURIE, WOMEN IN SCIENCE. Shows and contests related to radioactivity for gymnasium and high school students were prepared and carried out by employees of the INCT. The topics of the shows included measurement of the natural radioactivity, demonstration of the penetrative power of ionising radiation and methods of protection against it, as well as estimation of the radioactive contamination at a dosimetry gate and presentation of issues related to medical equipment sterilization and food hygienization. In addition, a contest of knowledge in chemistry, physics and nuclear energy and a quiz on the life and scientific activities of Maria Skłodowska-Curie were organized.

Shows and contests have drawn much attention of the visitors, so we were very happy with the result of this event. Our young scientists gave interviews to the local radio and the AMU television. Also, information about the organized presentations appeared in "Głos Wielkopolski" and on the following websites:
