The Section is active in the investigation of basics of radiation chemistry in solid state matter, including polymers, tracing the role of spurs, neglected since the time of aqueous radiation chemistry.
They are important not only in solving the mechanisms of chemical reactions but help to improve applications, e.g. crosslinking of polymers.
