Zbigniew Zimek, Ph.D.


Z.Zimek Dr Zbigniew Zimek was born in 1942. He graduated from the Warsaw University of Technology in 1967. His first appointment was at the Institute of Nuclear Research. He was the Head of the Accelerator Laboratory, responsible for designing, installation and exploitation of 8 electron accelerators.
He obtained his Ph.D. in Technical Sciences from the Institute of Nuclear Research in 1974. In 1976 he was granted a fellowship for a postdoctoral training at the Center of Fast Kinetics Research of the University of Texas, Austin (USA). Since 1983 he has been working at the Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology where in 1991 he was appointed Head of the Department of Radiation Chemistry and Technology. He served as IAEA expert in electron beam accelerators and radiation processing technologies to several countries (Ecuador, Bulgaria, Iran, Syria and Indonesia).
He is engaged in the development and promotion of industrial radiation process like sterilization, modification of polymers and flue gas purification.
