The high sensitivity of nuclear methods enables to determine trace elements at extremely low concentrations, preserving in intact state a unique object as work of art is.
The applied investigation techniques enable:
identification of white lead and tin-lead yellow (INAA method, quantitative determination of about 40 trace and representative elements),
determination of elemental composition of ceramic ware (INAA, XRF methods),
analysis of elemental composition in archeological objects made of gold, silver and copper alloys,
neutron autoradiography of paintings, which, based on the sequence of autoradiograms, makes it possible to trace the techniques of applying painterly layers and to identify repainted fragments (maximal size of paintings 100x150 cm).
