INTERPRETATION OF ISOTOPE EFFECTS ON THE SOLUBILITY OF GASES

Experimental results concerning the isotope effect on the solubility of gases are reviewed and the theory of the isotope effect on Henty’s law constants is derived in terms of the statistical mechanical theory of condensed phase isotope effects. The performance of the method is demonstrated by detailed analysis of some of the available experimental data on solubility isotope effect.
