The miscibility of a- and b-picolines with D2O has been studied in the whole composition range. It has appeared that both picolines are only partially miscible in heavy water contrary to the complete miscibility with regular water. The phase diagrams obtained have the shape of the closed loops and their appearance is explained in terms of changes in the intermolecular interactions upon isotope substitution in hydrogen bonded water molecules.
