AGE OF Am-Be NEUTRONS IN WATER

An indium foil experiment based on the sandwich method was performed in order to investigate the spatial distribution of the 1.46 eV neutron flux from an Am-Be neutron source and to determine the age of Am-Be indium resonance neutrons in light water. The method allows one to make corrections for the influence of higher resonances on the main indium resonance energy (1.46 eV) and for the finite size of the source and indium foil. The obtained age of indium resonance neutrons was 64.5±1.7 cm2 and their relaxation lenght 11.7±0.3 cm.
