XRF FULL-SPECTRUM CALIBRATION TECHNIQUE USING ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK

Artificial Neural Network (ANN) technique was applied for computing calibration models for two XRF gauges. The prediction ability of the developed models was compared with models computed with Partial Least Squares regression (PLS). It was found that ANN calibration models exhibited better prediction ability in case when the relationship between input and output variables was non-linear. Some overfiting was observed when number of neurons in the hidden layer exceeded certain value.
