The authors analysed the content of Ra-226, the parent isotope of Rn-222, in samples of water and rocks collected near Swieradow Zdroj. On the basis of the new results, as well as literature data, a new view on the origin of radon in medicinal waters of Swieradow Zdroj was proposed. The authors stress a major role of radium content in rocks of the recharge zone and the presence of numerous faults and fissures, but they regard the radium content in the waters as no important.
