A structural model is presented for the two-way hysteresisless shape memory effect in Mn-based alloys with a thermoelastic martensitic transformation. It is shown that this effect results from internal stresses caused by reorientation of different martensitic species. The features decisive for applications of reversible shape memory alloys are discussed.
