Sewage dispersion in natural water reservoirs

Tracer methods constitute very convenient means for observation and examination of sewage dispersion and dilution processes in natural water reservoirs. The methods have been developed used by the INCT to measure mixing parameters in natural water-courses, to determine segments of complete cross-sectional mixing as well as to possess and predict dispersion of sewage in large water reservoirs. There are also presented.
The methods of predicting preliminary stage of dispersion of sewage discharged into large water reservoirs through underwater outfalls as well as the method for determining constant decomposition rates of effluents entering a natural water reservoir have been worked out.
The methods can be used in analysis of pollution in a given water region, in selection of optimum sewage outfall locations as well as in prediction efluents dilution intensity at different hydrological and weather conditions.
