Assessment of the specific activity of natural radioactive isotopes by the gamma spectrometry method
Parameters of gamma spectrometer:
- germanium HPGe detector, with relative efficiency of 92.5% and resolution of 1.9 keV
- for radiation of energy 1.33 MeV for 60Co isotope;
- lead housing (passive shield) with wall thickness of 10 mm, which diminishes a natural background 60 times;
- limits for detectability of natural radioisotopes: 0.1 Bq/kg;
- reletive precision (per cent) of natural radioactive isotopes specific activity: < 5%.
Applications:
Determination of a specific activity in coals, ashes, building materials, food products, soil, plants, and other environmental samples.
