The Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology offers a four year Ph.D. degree programme to graduates of chemical, physical and biological departments of universities, to graduates of medical universities and to engineers in chemical technology and material science.

The main areas of the studies are:

• radiation chemistry and biochemistry,
• chemistry of radioelements,
• isotopic effects,
• radiopharmaceutical chemistry,
• analytical chemistry,
• chemistry of radicals,
• application of nuclear methods in chemical and environmental research, material science and in protection of historical heritage.

At present 15 students carry out the courses towards their Ph.D. degree. Our Institute offers for Ph.D. students not living in Warsaw accommodation in 10 rooms in the guesthouse. The candidates accepted for the forementioned programme can be employed in the Institute. The candidates can apply for a doctoral scholarship. During the four-year studies the students participate in lectures given by senior staff from the INCT, the Warsaw University and the Polish Academy of Sciences.

• Techniques of mass spectrometry (ICP MS, elektrospray MS, MALDI MS) in analytical chemistry, Prof. Ryszard Łobiński (CNRS, Pau, Francja)

• Radiation technology and nuclear techniques in environmental protection, Prof. Andrzej Chmielewski

• Chemistry of elements, Prof. Sławomir Siekierski

• Military aspects of nuclear chemistry, Prof. Zbigniew Zagórski

• Radiation chemistry of polymenrs, Doc. Grażyna Przybytniak 

• Structure and reactivity In organic chemistry, Doc.Dariusz Pogocki 

 

Most of the students expand their knowledge during short or long training in numerous renown research centres, e.g. European Institute of Transuranium Elements in Karlsruhe, Ghent University, Orsay University, GSI Darmstadt etc.
Each year Ph.D. students are obliged to deliver a lecture on a topic of his/her dissertation at a seminar. The final requirements for the Ph.D. programme graduates, according to the regulation of the Ministry of National Education, are: submission of a formal dissertation, summarising original research contributions suitable for publications; final examination and public defense of the dissertation theses.


The qualification interview for the Ph.D. studies takes place in the mid of October.
