General activities

The laboratory deals with application of tracers (dyes and radioisotopes) for a study of fluid flow processes in the industrial and environmental systems. The modern methods as Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry and Liquid Scintillation Counting are being used for measurement of environmental isotopes (3H, Ra, Rn, stable isotopes H, S, N, C), which can be used as natural tracers in environmental studies. Study of media flow dynamics through industrial apparatus for optimization of theirs construction and working parameters. Modern computerized simulation methods (CFD), mathematical modeling and data visualization are extensively used and developed.

The main aims of the activity:

Specific activities

Basic research:

  • Research of isotope effects and utilization of isotope ratio as a natural marker of materials (e.g. sulphur isotopes ratio as a marker of anthropogenic sulphur sources).
  • Elaboration of new methods for materials labelling and tracer experiments data treatment.
